Good Day. Thank you for checking House on the Beach out. I would like to raise some points of critical importance. Did you know that Wheretostay is the only booking platform you do not pay commission on, and for that reason the rates are always cheaper than the better known platforms. Secondly you are able to call the owner and chat directly...the world is full of unscrupulous people so dealing directly is the safest.
Due to the typical security concerns in South Africa we have recently erected massive 4 meter high walls around the property, it does not impact on the magnificent views but rather your sense of safety and well-being. It is essential to me as the owner to know that you are sleeping peacefully at night.
We note the recent media reports of sewerage in the oceans in and around Durban, our area has been saved from this as all residences are serviced by septic tanks on site, no treated or untreated sewerage flows into the ocean for 8 kilometres either side of us, so you can swim all year around! ALSO Due to the water shedding challenges we have back up JOJO tanks( over 20 000 litres) and Pumps, so you will have continuous water supply.
Getaway Magazine voted House on the Beach as one of the “top ten affordable and cool” beach houses in South Africa. After a “cruisey” 35 minute drive from Durban you arrive at House on the Beach at Widenham/Umkomaas. And it is quite simply that fortunately it sits high enough on the point for one to escape the moist sea air and enjoy the vista that this exceptionally located property has to offer. The most alluring point to the property is its outdoor entertainment area. Shielded from the elements you can still lie on the Daybed and gaze all the way back to Umhlanga(some 80 kms away) with all the interlocking bays and points rolling out as far as the eye can see. It is right on the beach, approximately 59 steps need to be taken to the high tide mark. While you are braaiing you can watch the family swim in the bay or play in the wonderful rock pools below.
The House on the Beach has a distinct Cape Cod feel when you enter. The wooden ceilings and floors have been white washed, the kitchen is all cream and white. There is a ball and claw stand alone bath for the ladies to relax in after a tough day on the beach.
The main house consists of 3 queen sized bed rooms and 2 bath rooms. There is an outside en-suite bedroom with a King size bed, making the house an 8 adult sleeper with a few toddlers.
Most of the rooms have aircons and security consists of beams, sensors, armed response and trellidoors.
