Gateside is found in the heart of tranquil Hilton village, 10km from Pietermaritzburg, at the entrance to the scenic Midlands Meander and close to St Anne's and Hilton College. Set in a quiet lane amongst green pastures with magnificent views of the mountain. Tiny Gateside: this is a charming open plan cottage with queen bed and traditional Victorian fireplace, lounge, dining & kitchenette areas. Bathroom en-suite has shower over Victorian bath. A small bedroom with bunk beds leads off the main area. Has spacious private verandah to enjoy the view.
Treetops: a large upstairs loft-style room, again with queen bed and 2 singles, lounge & dining areas plus kitchenette. Bathroom en-suite has Victorian bath and separate shower. Stunning views from the balcony. Wall heaters and fan.
Big Studio: open plan ground floor unit with either 2 single beds or one king-size bed. Own lounge/dining & kitchenette areas plus efficient gas fire. Bathroom en-suite with shower.
Small Studio: cosy double bedroom with shower & wash basin. Own separate toilet. Outside seating area. The two studio units can be used as a family unit via an interleading door.

Hilton is at the entrance to the Midlands Meander which offers beautiful scenic drives through local countryside and many stop-off points at the numerous arts & crafts shops, restaurants and cafes.
Only an hour's drive from the Drakensburg mountains for a day trip (or longer). Various guides are available to organise mountain walks, hikes, abseiling or to view the local fauna & flora.
There are numerous dams in the area for the keen trout angler.
Visit nearby Karkloof valley which offers: Karkloof Canopy Tours - foofy slide through the treetops! Horse riding trails for both experienced and beginner riders. View the local wildlife or Karkloof Falls from horseback. Enjoy a peaceful picnic at spectacular Karkloof Falls.
Take a trip down the hill into nearby Pietermaritzburg to wander through the Botanical Gardens, visit the Butterfly Farm or admire the historical architecture of the city itself.
Enjoy the beaches of Durban which is only an hour away and the new uShaka Marine World is definitely worth a visit.
