Where the Voortrekkers entered Natal, on their trek through the Drakensberg Mountains, (Retief Pass), you will find Dumbe.

Situated on this escarpment of history, Dumbe is a stone, 2 sleeper cottage with surprising views of times gone by. Dumbe offers comfortable accommodation in one double room (sleeping two). The ideal, romantic breakaway for a couple.


The living- and dining area leading out onto the sundeck, offers breathtaking views on the whole valley.

Dumbe is about 280 km from Durban and about 300 km from Johannesburg, on the R 74 route.


Eskom power is provided.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery/crockery/gas stove/microwave and fridge.


Bedding and towels are provided.

The braai area, nestled between rocks and Protea bushes, offers outstanding views. Bring own charcoal and firelighters.

Dumbe is walking distance from the Kaalvoetvrou-monument. Dumbe offers fly fishing, mountain biking, 4x4 route, bird watching, hiking and pure relaxation.
